Ryan P. O’Quinn, MD, a third-generation native of San Antonio, completed his BS in Biology at Baylor University.  He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where he graduated as one of the top students in his class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.  While in medical school, Dr. O’Quinn decided to leave his home state of Texas to train in the very best programs available for his post-graduate medical education.  Dr. O’Quinn completed a medical internship at the Yale School of Medicine/Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut prior to beginning residency in the Division of Dermatology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.  At Vanderbilt, he served as Chief Resident in his final year of training.  Dr. O’Quinn then went to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to complete his training in the most competitive Mohs Micrographic Surgery/Dermatologic Surgery fellowship under the direction of two true surgical pioneers, Dr. David G. Brodland and Dr. John A. Zitelli (one of Dr. Frederic Mohs’ original students).

 

Dr. O’Quinn returned to San Antonio in 2002 and established the South Texas Skin Cancer Center with the goal of providing the very best treatment possible for patients with cutaneous malignancy.  In addition, he is Medical Director of the South Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center.

 

Dr. O'Quinn is married with 2 children.

Joshua L. Owen, MD, PhD

Joshua L. Owen, MD, PhD is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic and reconstructive surgeon with interests in dermatologic oncology and complex facial reconstruction. He has specific interests in high-risk squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, interdisciplinary oncologic approach, transplant dermatology, nail disorders, keloids, and skin cancer screening and prevention. He strives for an individually tailored approach to skin cancer removal and aesthetic reconstruction. 

 

Dr. Owen grew up as an Air Force "brat." After graduating from Ronald Reagan High School in San Antonio, he completed a BS in both Chemistry and Biochemistry at Texas A&M University College Station, where he graduated with a perfect GPA and was selected for induction to Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to earn both MD and PhD degrees from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. As one of the top graduates in his class, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. After finishing his medical internship at UT Southwestern, he left Texas to attend one of the top dermatology residency programs in the country at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Owen completed his Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology Fellowship at Saint Louis University under the direction of Dr. Ramona Behshad, herself having trained with an original Dr. Frederic Mohs trainee. Dr. Owen is the author of numerous scientific studies and has presented his work nationally and internationally. Dr. Owen is married to a San Antonio native and together they have a son and a dog.

Courtney S. Aldridge, PA-C

Courtney Sprague Aldridge, PA-C, grew up in North Carolina and San Antonio.  She graduated from Texas A&M University with a BS in Genetics in 1998.  After teaching high school for two years, Courtney decided to return to school to become a Physician Assistant.  She completed a three-year program in the School of Allied Health at the University of  Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in the very competitive Physician Assistant program.  She passed her National Examination as a certified PA in 2002.  Following graduation, Courtney worked for five years in a busy medical and cosmetic dermatology practice under the direction of Dr. Vivian Bucay.  She joined Dr. O’Quinn at the South Texas Skin Cancer Center in 2007. 


Courtney Aldridge has a hand in all parts of the practice working as a team with Dr. O’Quinn, including pre-operative consultations, post-operative care, timely patient communication, and assisting Dr. O’Quinn in surgical procedures.  Courtney is a gifted Physician Assistant with extensive knowledge of dermatology.

Courtney continues to hold an appointment as Adjunct Clinical Faculty of the School of Allied Health at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and trains PA students as a Clinical Preceptor.  She has spoken at many Physician Assistant conferences on different topics in dermatology at the State and National Level.  She is a member of the American Association of Physician Assistants, Texas Association of Physician Assistants, and Bexar County Physician Assistant Society.


Courtney is married and blessed with three young children.
